The Microsoft Kinect places a depth sensor, VGA camera, and microphone array in the same package, allowing for motion tracking, 3D scanning, gestural interaction, and voice control of a computer. It's a lot of fun!

I am looking for students interested in either designing (prototyping and creating) or developing (programming) for the Kinect and similar hardware. So far, I have used the Kinect extensively in I300 Human Computer Interaction to explore short term memory, gestural control and its efficiency, speech interfaces, and information visualization. Any of these are worthy research areas, and I also have ideas or prototypes for mathematical games and visualization of triangulated surfaces as developed in my PhD thesis.
